The Security Guard protects the general public and supports a safe, enjoyable experience at company venues.
The role provides customer assistance, manages incidents, controls access, and protects company property.
Security and Emergency Response
- Respond to accidents, illness, death, disputes, fights, lost children, fires, theft, robbery, riots, intoxication, and other incidents.
- Assist medical staff when required and follow company emergency procedures.
- Be familiar with powers of arrest, security directives, and the Emergency Procedure Manual.
- Enforce track rules, AGCO regulations, provincial statutes, and municipal by-laws.
Access, Patrol, and Property Protection
- Control access to the Stable Area, Paddock, money rooms, mutuel lines, Judges' and Stewards' stand, and parking areas.
- Verify credentials, record information for authorized entrants, and permit only authorized vehicles in specified areas.
- Secure perimeter fences and monitor people to prevent unauthorized removal of company property.
- Conduct property patrols and ensure fire extinguishers and hoses are accessible and fully charged.
Facility and Traffic Safety
- Inspect floors and stairways for debris, obstructions, and fire hazards and ensure access doors are locked.
- Control traffic flow, issue parking violations, and arrange removal of abandoned vehicles.
- Control mutuel lines and address altered tickets, counterfeit money, and unauthorized personnel.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Security Operations or designate.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Valid PSISA Security Guard Licence.
- Valid Ontario G or higher driver's licence with a safe driving record.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
- Completed or in process of obtaining SmartServe.
- Knowledge of security services, fire safety, office procedures, department protocol, and health and safety practices.
- Customer service, communication, organizational, teamwork, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Availability for major race dates and varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Pay Rate
- The pay rate is $24.14 during the probation period and $25.14 after probation.
