Role Overview
The Security and Loss Prevention Specialist is an hourly position within Amazon Operations.
The role protects people, physical property, equipment, inventory, data, and intellectual property in a designated building.
The specialist reports to the Security and Loss Prevention Cluster Manager and supports operational and cross-functional teams.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Conduct confidential investigations and prepare written reports concerning theft, fraud, and critical incidents.
- Identify vulnerabilities and define mitigating actions in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Serve as a liaison and security or crisis management subject matter expert for site leadership.
- Develop alarm-reduction strategies and diagnose problematic devices with internal and external partners.
- Travel domestically within the region up to 25% of the time when applicable.
- Work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a 24/7 operation.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
- Work in variable noise, temperatures, and weather, including outside loading areas.
Day-to-Day Work
- Perform physical security audits and investigate policy violations, security incidents, and loss events.
- Collect information by monitoring systems and tools, analyzing data reports, and conducting interviews.
- Audit and monitor security system health at fulfillment, logistics, and retail operations locations.
- Coordinate with external security providers to maintain high-quality services and customer experience.
- Act as a point of contact for legal, HR, security providers, local law enforcement, and other departments.
- Deliver loss prevention education and awareness programs and liaise on policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, including Microsoft Excel, to manipulate and analyze data.
- Experience identifying security issues and risks and developing mitigation plans.
- At least 2 years of Amazon Blue Badge/FTE experience, at least 1 year in a listed security, investigations, law enforcement, or operations field, or completion of the Loss Prevention Qualified Career Choice program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using data and metrics to make and influence risk-guided decisions.
- Experience collaborating with and influencing multiple teams across organizations.
- Experience with physical security control and surveillance systems.
- At least 1 year of leadership or management and/or supply chain experience.
- Investigative interviewing experience or relevant security and loss prevention certifications.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
Compensation
- The base compensation listed for Tsawwassen First Nation, British Columbia, is 28.60 to 39.23 CAD per hour.
- Total compensation may include sign-on payments, restricted stock units, and benefits.
