Job Summary
- The purpose of this role is to share responsibility for planning, teaching and assessments of assigned subjects, guiding students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan teaching to achieve progression through clear objectives and challenging tasks.
- Set clear targets building on prior progress and attainment.
- Identify SEN/EAL pupils and provide appropriate support.
- Maintain high standards of work and homework.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and effective questioning.
- Select appropriate learning resources including ICT.
- Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge and skills.
- Deploy classroom support effectively.
- Encourage pupils to think, talk about learning, and develop independence.
- Develop, implement, and monitor subject policy.
- Ensure children's work is marked, displayed, and presented to a high standard.
- Consistently apply school rules to maintain discipline and well being.
Monitoring, Assessing, Recording and Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate personal teaching effectiveness.
- Participate in peer observations.
- Submit books, records, or planning for monitoring.
- Mark and monitor pupils' work and set targets for progress.
- Assess and record pupils' progress systematically.
- Prepare and present informative reports to parents.
- Communicate with SENCO and Head of Department regarding pupil progress or behaviour.
Curriculum Development
- Develop plans with clear targets and success criteria for curriculum maintenance.
- Contribute to whole school planning activities.
Directed Time
- Attend school during stipulated hours and all meetings/functions deemed directed time, including two extracurricular activities and one planning session per week.
Punctuality
- Set high standards for punctuality and encourage same from pupils and colleagues.
- Enter student attendance and notify PRE of absences or latecomers.
Safety
- Emphasize safety in all curriculum areas.
- Perform playground duties on time and with due diligence.
Communication With Parents
- Communicate with parents on a regular, informal basis.
- Attend Parents' Evenings and provide accurate progress information.
- Report to parents in writing twice yearly or as required.
Staff Development, ECA & Cover
- Attend and participate fully in Staff Development, staff meetings, and briefings.
- Provide cover for absent colleagues as necessary.
- Contribute to the extra curricular activity programme.
Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's in Education, PG Diploma, QTS.
- Minimum 2 years full time teaching experience.
- Language Skills: English mandatory.
- In depth knowledge of School curriculum (English National Curriculum) and assessment methods.
- Up to date curriculum developments.
- Application of effective teaching and learning theory.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Experienced curriculum and team leader.
- Strong planning and time management ability.
- Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy, and patience.
- Ability to develop good personal relationships within a team.
- Effective communicator (written and verbal).
