The Cylindrical Grinder III is an advanced-level precision manufacturing professional responsible for independently setting up, programming, operating, and troubleshooting cylindrical grinding equipment to produce high-precision components that meet stringent dimensional, geometric, and surface finish requirements.
This position serves as a technical resource within the department, supporting process development, training, continuous improvement initiatives, and manufacturing engineering activities.
In addition to production responsibilities, the Cylindrical Grinder III contributes to process optimization, documentation improvements, root cause investigations, and workforce development while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.
What you’ll be doing:
Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot Studer cylindrical grinding equipment.
Select and qualify tooling, grinding wheels, and workholding solutions.
Perform precision grinding operations to meet blueprint, GD&T, and surface finish requirements.
Verify dimensional accuracy through in-process and final inspections.
Perform routine operator-level preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
Maintain process consistency and repeatability.
Modify existing Studer programs to accommodate engineering revision changes.
Create and optimize programs for new components and production requirements.
Verify program accuracy through setup validation and first-piece inspections.
Troubleshoot programming and process-related issues.
Maintain program documentation in accordance with company standards.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of Talyrond equipment and measurement principles.
Perform basic setup and operation of Talyrond inspection equipment.
Measure and evaluate roundness, cylindricity, concentricity, and related features.
Compare measurement data to engineering specifications.
Document inspection results and communicate findings to Quality and Engineering teams as required.
Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
Verify product conformance using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
Identify dimensional discrepancies and support corrective action activities.
