About the Role
The UK Ministry of Defence seeks a Deputy Programme Director and Integration Lead for Submarine Build Modernisation. You will act on behalf of the Programme Director, overseeing governance, programme delivery, and stakeholder engagement for nuclear submarine programmes.

Responsibilities
- Act as the Programme Director’s principal deputy, exercising delegated authority and ensuring continuity of leadership and decision making.
- Lead and oversee governance arrangements, including boards, committees and forums relevant to SBM.
- Oversee programme delivery to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved and aligned with endorsed strategy, approvals and funding.
- Provide leadership across business cases, programme and project artefacts, delivery plans and milestones.
- Exercise delegated approvals and assurance responsibilities, ensuring appropriate assurance across risk, cost, schedule, safety and performance.
- Act as a focal point for assurance reviews and follow up actions.
- Lead responsibilities relating to security, resilience and business continuity, ensuring compliance with MOD and SDA policy.
- Deliver performance outcomes to Navy Command and the Defence Nuclear Organisation within funded requirements.
- Oversee programme requirements capture and ensure requirements are coherent, traceable and aligned to programme objectives.
- Lead or oversee programme evaluations to inform assurance and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Contract Permissioning Group (CPG) Secretariat function.
- Act as a senior engagement point for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Significant experience of leading and managing a project management team delivering a highly complex portfolio of projects.
- UK nationality only.
- Must be able to obtain Developed Vetting security clearance.

Job Summary
- The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines.
- This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
- The primary delivery location for this position is Bristol Abbey Wood.
Person Specification
- Significant experience of leading and managing a project management team delivering a highly complex portfolio of projects.
- Qualifications including Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM), Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) or Registered Project Professional (RPP) (desirable).
- Relevant postgraduate qualification (eg. MSc in Project Management) (desirable).
- Major Projects Leadership Academy (MPLA) or Project Leadership Programme (PLP) (desirable).
