Responsibilities

  • The Food Technician ensures the effective delivery of the food curriculum by preparing materials, assisting with demonstrations, and maintaining high hygiene standards. Core duties involve managing inventory, restocking consumables/ingredients, and ensuring robust stock rotation.
  • This includes preparing and clearing away food demonstrations and equipment for lessons, ensuring laundry is managed, and cleaning/checking storage areas. The role also involves administrative support (printing, displays), assisting with stock taking, maintaining technology related machinery, and arranging regular safety inspections of equipment. The technician maintains risk assessment records and supports community healthy eating initiatives.

Qualifications

  • This role requires a Level 2 Food Hygiene or equivalent qualification. Essential skills required are the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences, maintain confidentiality, and utilise standard ICT packages (Microsoft Office).
  • The individual must exhibit excellent time management and organisation skills necessary to prioritise and manage their own workload. Experience of working in a school environment or within a specific curriculum area is desirable. Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training and development.
