Role overview
The employer is seeking a qualified, responsible, and reliable Scale Operator.
The role supports daily scale operations in the office and yard.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and provide good customer service.
- Record weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles using a computer.
- Log information accurately into a centralized database.
- Calculate driver costs based on vehicle weight.
- Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
- Work in the office and at yard scales.
- Weigh incoming trucks and update reports on the computer.
- Sort and process metal scrap pieces.
Requirements
- General office experience is needed.
- Reading, writing, and basic math skills are required.
- Comfort using a computer and Microsoft Office for accurate data entry.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
- A safety-oriented approach is very important.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Cashier experience is a plus.
- Transportation, trucking, or industrial yard experience is a plus.
