- For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary
- £68,100 - £102,100 plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission is seeking an experienced SCADA Operations Engineering Manager to lead the delivery, operation and continual improvement of Real Time System Delivery (RTSD) and services across the Transmission network.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, secure and reliable operation of critical control systems that support the management of the Transmission network. Working across engineering, operational and project teams, you will provide strategic direction, technical governance and people leadership while driving standardisation, innovation and continuous improvement throughout the RTSD function.
The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Transmission control systems and digital substations solutions whilst supporting the successful delivery of major investment programmes and operational initiatives.

You will
Lead, develop and support a team of RTSD/SCADA engineers responsible for the design, implementation, commissioning and ongoing support of Transmission control system solutions.
Provide technical leadership and governance for SCADA, RTU, communications and digital substation solutions deployed across the Transmission network.
Work collaboratively with project managers, engineering teams and operational stakeholders to define delivery requirements, priorities, programmes of work and effective resource plans.
Drive continuous improvement and the development of standardised control system solutions, supporting strategic roadmaps for future control system architectures and network growth.
Manage supplier and contractor performance while promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring RTSD activities comply with CDM regulations, company procedures and engineering governance requirements.
You have
Significant experience in the delivery, operation and management of SCADA, RTSD or operational technology systems, including SCADA implementation, IEC 61850, digital substation solutions and control system environments.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams, technical specialists, suppliers and delivery partners, with strong communication skills and the ability to build high-performing, collaborative teams.
Strong project and programme management capability, including the management of budgets, resources, delivery plans, outsourced partners and improvement initiatives using Six Sigma principles.
The ability to engage, influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across operational, engineering and project environments, including electrical industry interfaces and reporting requirements.
A minimum HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or a related discipline, ideally supported by degree-level study, professional registration, project management qualifications and knowledge of operational technology resilience, cyber security, network critical infrastructure and CDM regulations.
