SAS Administrator

The role is based in the Pune R&D Centre, at SAS R&D Pune facility.

For this role, you will join the SAS9 team.

We are looking for a SAS Administrator to help deployment validation for complex deployment scenarios for SAS 9.4 and Viya 3.5 platforms and automate deployment validation tasks.

In this role, you will work on deployment validation, system setup, and platform-level customization.

You will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers to automate the validation activities.

• Your primary responsibility will include deployment validation for SAS 9.4 and Viya 3.5 products and solutions. Including but not limited to complex scenarios like horizontal and vertical clustering, multi-tier, FIPS / TLS, MFA etc.
• Design and implement configuration logic using scripting and automation techniques.
• Configure automation pipeline and scripts for using DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab.
• Work with Application teams to architect and design complex deployment scenarios.
• Develop and manage configuration templates, system properties, and environment-specific settings.
• Implement secure configuration practices including handling TLS/SSL settings and certificate integration.
• Collaborate with developers and platform engineers to support application configuration requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to configuration scripts and system setup.
• Contribute to improvements in configuration frameworks, tools, and scripting standards.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to new tooling, systems, and frameworks.
• Ensure adherence to security standards and deployment best practices.
• Contribute to unit testing, integration testing, and documentation of configuration-related changes.
• Support junior team members and assist in knowledge sharing.

• 5 to 15 years of experience in SAS Administration, including hands-on experience on installing and configuring SAS products and solutions.
• Strong understanding of SAS 9.4 and Viya 3.5 platforms and operating systems like Linux, Unix, Windows and z/OS.
• Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab.
• Good scripting experience in Unix/Linux shell scripting and/or Windows Batch scripting.
• Installing, configuring and administrating SAS software and solutions
• Good to have SAS Platform Administrator Certification
• Programming in Base SAS
• Working knowledge of Apache Tomcat.
• Deploying and managing JavaEE web application.
• Understanding of XML and configuration-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of TLS/SSL concepts and certificate handling.
• Working knowledge of Java (ability to read/debug code).
• Experience with version control tools such as Git or Gerrit.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and pipelines.
• Basic understanding of multi-tier application architecture and deployments.
• Quick learner with the ability to understand new tools and technologies.
• Understanding of software development processes and quality practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Mandatory Technical skills

• Good exposure to SAS Administration, including hands-on experience on installing and configuring SAS products and solutions.
• Strong understanding of SAS 9.4 and Viya 3.5 platforms and operating systems like Linux, Unix, Windows and z/OS.
• Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab.
• Good scripting experience in Unix/Linux shell scripting and/or Windows Batch scripting.
• Installing, using and administrating SAS software and solutions
• Good scripting knowledge in Unix/Linux shell scripting and/or Windows Batch scripting.
• Understanding of XML and configuration-driven systems.
• Strong understanding of TLS/SSL concepts and certificate handling.
• Working knowledge of JAVA programming, OOPS concepts, SOLID principles.
• Understanding and exposure to DevOps tools (Python, Ansible etc.)
