Role Overview
The role administers SAS environments, operates Kubernetes platforms, and supports stable, secure, and high-performance analytics operations.
The position combines platform administration, DevOps practices, and operational governance in enterprise data environments.
Platform and Operations Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain SAS Viya 3.x/4.x and SAS 9.4, including configuration, upgrades, patching, and user management.
- Manage Kubernetes Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, RBAC, Helm charts, storage classes, and network policies.
- Manage container lifecycles using Docker and Kubernetes-native tooling.
- Perform Linux/Unix administration, shell scripting, and operational automation.
- Support SAS ETL operations with SAS DI Studio and SAS Management Console.
- Implement dashboards and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk.
- Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, log analysis, and root cause investigations.
- Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures for SAS and Kubernetes environments.
Governance and Stakeholder Support
- Ensure SLA compliance, operational governance, and continuous improvement of SOC/MSS processes.
- Prepare customer-facing operational reports and maintain stakeholder communication.
- Support resource planning and shift management and act as an escalation point for technical teams.
- Collaborate with cloud teams on deployments and integrations across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Hands-on SAS Viya 3.x/4.x and/or SAS 9.4 administration experience is required.
- Strong Kubernetes operations knowledge covering RBAC, Helm, networking, storage, and workload orchestration is required.
- Proficiency with Docker, Linux/Unix administration, and shell scripting is required.
- Experience with SAS DI Studio and SAS Management Console is required.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk is required.
- Knowledge of SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Vertica is required.
- Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and backup or disaster recovery experience is required.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
- Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code and automation experience is preferred.
- CKA, CKAD, or SAS administration credentials are preferred.
- Understanding of enterprise security, SOC/MSS operations, and operational governance is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Three to six years of experience in SAS administration, Kubernetes operations, or DevOps engineering is required.
