Safety Specialist
The Safety Specialist is responsible for fostering an empowered, well-trained safety culture and ensuring a safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors. This role collaborates with and champions safety initiatives across all operations to maximize the effectiveness of the Safety Program, Safety Leadership Team, Safety Committee, managers, and supervisors.
As the organization's safety subject matter expert, the Safety Specialist partners with all departments to assess current safety performance, identify risks and opportunities for improvement, and recommend and implement strategies that strengthen safety processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision - Direct supervision of Safety/Security staff.
- Safety Management Program - Maintain, train, audit, and continuously improve the effectiveness of all staff involved activities covered by OSHA or LSI Safety Programs.
- OSHA, Federal, and State/Local Compliance - Ensure facility is compliant with all OSHA, Federal and State/Local guidelines.
- Emergency Response - Maintain, train, audit, and continuously improve the collaboration, professionalism and readiness of Emergency response and directly coordinate all Emergency Response staff at LSI.
- Training - Develop and administer Safety training to Ensure all LSI staff are effectively trained (competency based) in all required Safety protocols and policies as illustrated in the Safety Management Plan.
- Record Keeping / Administrate / Reporting - Compile all OSHA, Safety Program, Training and Work Comp Metrics, and resulting reports.
- Incident Root cause Investigation - Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented and generates reports for Safety Leadership Team.
