Role overview

The Safety, Health & Environment Specialist III performs moderately complex technical work across environmental, safety, and health disciplines.

The role supports ES&H compliance, independently develops solutions, and may lead specialists or administer project HSE programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of government agency requirements and apply environmental specialty practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, systems, and procedures.
  • Monitor and prevent workplace hazards and diseases.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and workplace hazard complaints.
  • Recommend improvements to processes, designs, procedures, and equipment to minimize hazards.
  • Develop and conduct employee training and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Assure the quality of HSE programs.
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Lead ES&H specialists or support personnel when assigned.
  • Administer HSE programs on small or medium-sized projects when assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH International General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
  • At least 12 years of HSE experience, including 3 to 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience on large-scale infrastructure, rail, transportation, construction, or engineering projects.

Preferred certifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma is preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional or equivalent certification is advantageous.
