Safety Engineer

Role Overview

Supervision and Safety Operations

• Supervise subordinate activities and ensure work is performed efficiently and in compliance with established procedures.
• Manage the distribution of safety processes and procedures and support employee safety awareness campaigns.
• Oversee hazardous materials management, safety and loss inspections, accident analysis, and testing.
• Maintain recommendations and consolidated statistical data for safety and fire-related equipment and systems.

Security and Emergency Management

• Manage plant and building security patrols and organize entrance-gate controls for personnel and vehicle movements.
• Investigate thefts, break-ins, suspected fraud, damage, arson, and sabotage and liaise with local security forces.
• Develop emergency and disaster control plans for use during emergencies.

Incident Prevention and Equipment

• Investigate accidents, significant incidents, fires, and company property damage and recommend preventive action.
• Ensure daily inspection tours and corrective action for fire and safety installations and procedures.
• Ensure safety and firefighting equipment is inspected and maintained and that the volunteer fire brigade is staffed and trained.
• Advise on the use, care, and control of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.

People Development and Reporting

Requirements

• Working knowledge of applicable safety, health, environmental, fire, and security standards and procedures.
• Ability to investigate accidents, significant incidents, fires, thefts, property damage, and other security events.
• Ability to supervise safety personnel and support the training of a volunteer fire brigade.
