The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of country-focused security risk analysis for high-risk operating environments. The role is data-heavy, mapping-driven, and operationally focused, designed to support diplomatic missions, humanitarian actors, and international partners with timely, actionable risk intelligence. The role's responsibilities are designed to support senior risk analysts in the production of weekly and monthly products.
Key Responsibilities:
Incident Monitoring & OSINT Collection
Track and log security incidents daily across Haiti and Sudan, including:
Armed conflict and militancy
Crime, abductions, and narcotics-related activity
Civil unrest and protests
Environmental hazards and UXO risks
Source incidents from local-language media, official statements, and OSINT platforms.
Clearly separate confirmed information from unverified or speculative reporting.
Incident Plotting & Geospatial Work
Plot incidents in Google Earth, save layers correctly, and upload to Google My Maps.
Hyperlink maps directly into analytical products.
Country-specific priorities:
Haiti: Accurate plotting in Ouest Department and Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Emphasis on gang territory, access routes, and IDP-adjacent incidents.

Database Management (Power BI-Oriented)
Maintain structured incident databases optimized for Power BI ingestion.
Ensure dropdown fields are used correctly to prevent data loss or disconnection.
Update incidents on time to support weekly and rolling visual products.
Data Visualization Support
Contribute to the production of country-specific visuals, including:
Common outputs:
Incident frequency (last 30 days)
Weekly conflict incident charts
Conflict vs non-conflict breakdowns
Civil unrest, hazard, and UXO trends
Country-specific outputs:
Haiti: Gang activity maps by arrondissement and commune, actor/target trends, density analysis.
Sudan: Weekly conflict maps, air vs ground incident trends, and regional front-line volatility tracking.
Analytical rigor and clarity should be prioritized over visual complexity.
Emerging Risks Tracking
Maintain an Emerging Risks Table for each country.
Identify early warning indicators linked to:
Displacement and humanitarian access Environmental stress and resource scarcity Shifts in armed actor behavior Cross-border escalation and regional spillover

Support anticipatory analysis rather than reactive incident summaries.
Analytical Writing & Reporting
Contribute to Risk Analysis Reports focused on operational and tactical risk.

Learning and Development Outcomes:
Throughout the internship, the Regional Risk Analyst Intern will have the opportunity to:
Develop an understanding of operational security risk analysis and intelligence support within high-risk operating environments.
Gain practical experience in incident monitoring, OSINT collection, geospatial mapping, and incident database management.
Develop analytical and critical-thinking skills through the identification, assessment, and reporting of emerging security and geopolitical risks.
Build competency in the preparation of analytical products, including risk reporting, data visualization, and trend analysis.
Improve professional communication, report writing, and information presentation skills in line with Fusion Center reporting standards.
Develop professional workplace competencies, including attention to detail, teamwork, time management, confidentiality, and adherence to Company policies and procedures
Required Profile:
Current or recent graduate in security studies, international relations, conflict studies, geography, or similar.
Strong interest in high-risk environments and operational security analysis.
Good understanding of geopolitical international dynamics.
Comfortable working with large datasets and repetitive workflows.
Able to follow strict formatting, consistency, and quality-control rules.
Competencies:
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess information objectively and identify relevant security and geopolitical risks.
High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling incident data, mapping, and analytical reporting.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within structured deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Proficiency in research, data collection, and information management, including the use of Microsoft Office and analytical or mapping tools.
Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle commercially sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally:

US English only.
Reports must be readable in under five minutes
Desireable:
Familiarity with Power BI or similar visualization tools.
Experience with OSINT and incident-based reporting.
