Job Summary
Plans and supervises lifting and rigging operations for ship repair and offshore construction projects.
Ensures lifts are executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with company HSE and industry lifting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise crane lifts, load handling, tandem lifts, and heavy transport across ship and offshore projects.
- Review lift plans, load charts, rigging arrangements, and Safe Working Loads before use.
- Supervise riggers and signalmen and ensure planned jobs have sufficient manpower and lifting equipment.
- Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks and confirm that lift plans and job safety analyses are understood.
- Inspect lifting gear and equipment and verify current certification, color-coding, and load testing.
- Coordinate lift sequencing with Crane Operators, Production, and Planning.
- Ensure critical and heavy lifts have approved lift plans and certified personnel where required.
- Maintain gear registers, inspection logs, and load test and certification records.
- Report near-misses, unsafe lifting practices, and equipment defects to HSE and Production Management.
- Coach riggers through on-the-job and toolbox training.
Mandatory HSE Responsibilities
- Ensure rigging and lifting operations comply with the company HSE Management System and statutory lifting regulations.
- Conduct or attend toolbox talks and ensure job safety requirements are understood before work starts.
Project Environment
- Work covers ship repair and offshore construction projects and involves field-based lifting operations.
