Overview
Entry-level or early-career engineer responsible for assisting in the design, development, and deployment of healthcare data interfaces using the Rhapsody Integration Engine.
This role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals transitioning into healthcare integration.
Training and mentorship will be provided to develop expertise in HL7 v2.x, FHIR, CDA, and interface transformation.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of integration routes using Rhapsody, focusing on message mapping, transformation, and routing.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to translate interface requirements into technical specifications.
- Assist in implementing HL7 v2.x messages (e.g., ADT, ORU, ORM); gradually gain exposure to CDA and FHIR formats.
- Run test messages, debug routes, and validate data integrity with guidance.
- Document integration logic, route configurations, and deployment notes under supervision.
- Learn and use transport protocols: MLLP/TCP, SFTP, REST/SOAP.
- Perform basic SQL or NoSQL queries to support transformation and validation tasks.
- Participate in code walkthroughs and peer review sessions to adopt best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Healthcare IT, Informatics, or equivalent experience.
- 0–3 years of integration or healthcare IT experience.
- Foundational understanding of HL7 v2.x; familiarity with FHIR or CDA is beneficial.
- Exposure to JavaScript for data handling.
- Awareness of integration protocols: MLLP, HTTP(S), SFTP.
- Ability to work with SQL or NoSQL for basic data access.
- Strong interest in healthcare technology and data interoperability.
- Nice to Have:
- Certified Rhapsody Associate or HL7 Fundamentals Certification.
- Experience from academic projects, internships, or bootcamps involving data integration.
- Familiarity with healthcare concepts, terminologies (SNOMED CT, LOINC), or public health platforms (e.g., NPHIES, Malaffi).
- Exposure to Git, basic DevOps concepts, or API testing tools.
