Role Overview
The Research Associate will conduct rigorous research on iconography and scriptures.
The role partners with the Research Project Manager, fellow researchers, Creative teams, and Design teams.
Research findings support a knowledge base for ancient wisdom, design, and storytelling.
Research and Source Work
- Research iconography, Sanskrit scriptures, Purāṇas, Upaniṣads, kāvya, stotras, śilpa texts, dharma texts, and related literature.
- Find primary Sanskrit references for assigned topics.
- Provide original Sanskrit text where available and ensure authenticity.
- Prepare accurate translations and explain immediate textual context.
- Trace ideas across multiple Sanskrit sources when required.
- Research deities, stories, philosophical concepts, symbols, flowers, colors, gemstones, sacred objects, rituals, and motifs.
Verification and Accuracy
- Record exact sources, text names, khaṇḍa, adhyāya, section, and śloka numbers.
- Verify quotations, references, translations, and online claims before submission.
- Distinguish direct textual statements from traditional, commentarial, and modern interpretations.
- Compare textual versions and identify the strongest relevant references with the Research Project Manager.
