The Opportunity This position is for a full-time Research Assistant position within the Breast Health Research Unit (BHRU) at the IWK. The aim of the BHRU is to move the needle on breast health in Nova Scotia through multiple breast health research initiatives while expanding data capture and outcome measurements across the province. The Research Assistant will play a direct role in executing this mission. The BHRU is collaborating with local innovators to test the feasibility of a device that could detect breast cancers at an earlier stage, thereby improving patient outcomes. The successful candidate will assist with this project and is expected to fulfil tasks such as equipment management, patient recruitment, data collection, and general administrative support. The Research Assistant will be working directly with women across the province who have/had breast cancer and/or require surgery or additional diagnostic imaging for a benign or malignant breast condition. Hours of Work Monday – Friday, 37.5 hrs/week Work is primarily in-office at IWK Health Centre, with some opportunity to work remotely. This position is a 12 month contract with the possibility of renewal. Your Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in a related field is required.
- Familiarity with the health research environment within Nova Scotia Health and/or the IWK is an asset.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting is required, as the research assistant will be working directly with IWK clinical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Prior experience with direct patient interaction is a major asset.
- Detailed working knowledge of different electronic data capture systems such as REDCap and Meditech.
- Experience working with industry sponsors on clinical trials is a major asset.
