Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments related to hydrometallurgical extraction, lithium recovery, salt extraction, solvent extraction, and battery materials
- Support process optimization for yield, purity, efficiency, and scalability
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical documentation and reports
- Assist with pilot scale process development and scale up initiatives
- Conduct characterization and analytical testing of materials and process streams
- Collaborate closely with founders, engineers, and external technical partners
- Research emerging technologies, patents, and industry developments in lithium ion and critical minerals processing
- Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and operational discipline
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or related field
- Experience in hydrometallurgy, lithium ion materials, salt extraction/refining, mineral processing, battery recycling, or chemical process development
- Strong laboratory, experimental, and process optimization skills
- Understanding of leaching, precipitation, crystallization, filtration, purification, and solvent extraction processes
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical reporting capabilities

Role Overview
- The R&D Specialist will contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of hydrometallurgical and lithium related extraction processes, supporting both laboratory and pilot scale activities.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on experimentation, process innovation, and working in an early stage, high growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments related to hydrometallurgical extraction, lithium recovery and purification, salt extraction and crystallization, solvent extraction and separation processes, and battery materials and recycling applications.
- Support process optimization for yield, purity, efficiency, and scalability.
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Assist with pilot scale process development and scale up initiatives.
- Conduct characterization and analytical testing of materials and process streams.
- Collaborate closely with founders, engineers, and external technical partners.
- Research emerging technologies, patents, and industry developments in lithium ion and critical minerals processing.
- Maintain high standards of laboratory safety and operational discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in hydrometallurgy, lithium ion materials, salt extraction/refining, mineral processing, battery recycling, or chemical process development.
- Strong laboratory, experimental, and process optimization skills.
- Understanding of leaching, precipitation, crystallization, filtration, purification, and solvent extraction processes.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical reporting capabilities.
- Pilot plant or scale up experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with ICP OES, XRD, SEM, AAS, or related analytical tools (preferred).
- Startup or technology commercialization experience (preferred).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and problem solving approach (preferred).
