Opportunity
The Manager, Research & Development leads technical research and specialized R&D activities for Lactalis Canada's Hard Cheese category.
The role supports hard cheese volume, profit targets, growth plans, innovation, qualification, and validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage product development plans and resources for innovation, formulation optimization, process technology, and strategic priorities.
- Lead multiple hard cheese research projects and provide technical direction for experiments and interpretation of results.
- Coordinate product development requirements with Leadership, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Purchasing, and Operations.
- Support cost-reduction programs and manage plant-trial costs related to the R&D SR&ED program.
- Investigate product and production issues with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Food Safety, Engineering, and Purchasing.
- Provide technical support to Marketing for sales-supporting documents.
- Lead hiring, goal setting, performance review, coaching, training, and development for direct reports.
- Promote a safe and healthy working environment.
What You Will Bring
- University degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- A Master's or PhD in a related discipline is an asset.
- At least 10 years of experience in the dairy or food industry.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of dairy product components and functionality, GMP, HACCP, and Canadian regulations.
- Strong analytical, communication, influencing, negotiating, leadership, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to use standard office applications such as Microsoft Office and email.

Compensation
- The base salary range is CAD 111,400 to CAD 139,200 or more.
- Actual base salary depends on skills, experience, and qualifications.
