The Rentals Manager is a front-line employee who oversees the operation of both rental shops and provides leadership to the Rental Team. The Manager is responsible for all day-to-day operations of both rental shops to ensure outstanding guest experience. The Manager outfits guests with a variety of rental equipment in a timely, professional manner. They also process payments and answer guest queries in a fast-paced environment. During busy times the Manager may “float” around the operations to support line-staff, reassign staff to busier areas of the shop if required. They will also deal with guests with special needs and generally maintain an effective and efficient operation. The Manager oversees the Service Tech Team to ensure the best use of human resources, to make sure the fleet is properly maintained and that guests requiring service are properly taken care of. They ensure that all administrative duties are taken care of accurately and in a timely fashion. The Manager reports to the Director, Retail and Rentals.
Hire, train and supervise the Rentals and Tech Shop Staff, and manage day-to-day operations in both rental locations.
Provide leadership and positive role modelling to all Rentals and Service Staff.
Assisting guests with their equipment needs, issuing equipment, setting bindings and taking returns.
Prepare for, conduct and document morning meetings, including attendance, safety messaging and operational and customer service training reinforcement.
Ensure locations are properly staffed every day and open during operating hours, including managing daily and daily break schedules to ensure the optimal number of staff are on the floor and in the Tech Shop at any given time. Manage staffing levels to meet or exceed budget expectations.
Set a high standard for all interactions with guests and fellow staff. Help avoid or diffuse difficult situations. Exemplify company policies and procedures.
Take responsibility for training and communicating with all staff.

Maintain regular and constructive communication with the Director, Retail and Rentals.
Take responsibility for staff performance management or other concerns. That will include performance appraisals and also disciplinary actions such as coaching sessions, written warnings and terminations.
Ensure that proper uniforms are always worn by all staff including nametags.
Be responsible for accurate and daily cash collecting and reporting.
Ensure that the administration of all liability/waiver documentation is done in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Ensure that the Rental shops are clean and neat and that all processes are safe for both guests and staff
Be actively involved in all daily tasks to help lead the team by example.
Help control and maintain the rentals inventory including equipment, parts and consumables.
Help with physical equipment inventories and assist with purchase planning for future years.
Prepare and submit purchase orders and material requests
Oversee the rental process for best service and maximum efficiency
Carry out administrative tasks, ensure filing and office/shop cleaning is done to a high standard.
Ensure the management of over-due equipment daily.
Ensure that all equipment is maintained and regularly rotated in its racks including skis, boards and boots.
Ensure that random weekly bench testing is taking place and properly recorded.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
This can be a physically demanding position requiring some manual labour and lifting.
Employees must always be of a sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This role must always maintain a high standard of professional conduct, particularly when in uniform and acting as a company representative.
Working on a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays will be expected.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively in English.
This position at times works alone, handles cash, and handles sensitive, confidential information.
This is primarily an indoor role, but outdoor travel occurs, and both preparedness and the ability to move around in a remote, alpine environment is required. Some indoor uniform pieces are provided.
