Job Overview

  • Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Population Health, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring publicly funded pharmaceuticals and vaccines are dispensed, distributed, transported, stored and handled properly.
  • We have permanent full and part time positions as well as a temporary full time position.

Responsibilities

  • Order and receive products from the Ontario Government Pharmacy Medical Supplies Services (OGPMSS) and contracted suppliers
  • Ensure optimal stock levels are maintained
  • Implement quality control measures
  • Transport pharmaceuticals and vaccines in accordance with protocols and guidance to alternate locations as required
  • Ensure accurate data entry within the provincial inventory database system(s)
  • Conduct perpetual vaccine and pharmaceutical inventory management which includes the cycle counting, order, distribution, and return processes
  • Generate reports of vaccine/pharmaceutical distribution and vaccine cold chain inspections
  • Participate on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned
  • Ensure routine equipment maintenance is scheduled and maintain documentation
  • Respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours as required

Qualifications

  • A Pharmacy Technician Diploma from an accredited Community College
  • Certificate of Registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Previous experience in a Pharmacy Technician position, preferably in a public health setting
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills
  • Knowledge of vaccine storage and handling guidelines
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario Public Health Standards and practical application of technical/professional requirements as defined by the Ontario College of Pharmacists and applicable legislation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi task and meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent decision making skills exercising tact, professionalism, sound judgement and conflict management
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information effectively
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An open and respectful approach to engaging colleagues with diverse perspectives

Additional Information

  • Current injection certification is considered an asset as is experience with programs such as Panorama and COVax.
  • Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will be required prior to start date.

Pay

  • CAD 37.86 per hour
