Role overview

AECOM is seeking a Regional Transportation Drainage Lead for transportation infrastructure projects across Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, and Utah.

The role provides regional direction for drainage staff while supporting project delivery, technical excellence, staffing, business development, and strategic growth.

Periodic travel to regional offices and project locations is required.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the regional transportation drainage team.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to drainage professionals.
  • Oversee highway, roadway, bridge, and transportation drainage design and analysis.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, staffing, workload, resources, and interoffice workshare.
  • Provide quality control for hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage studies, and design deliverables.
  • Support bid/build, design-build, and other progressive delivery approaches.
  • Represent AECOM in client meetings, interviews, and public presentations.
  • Support business development, client relationships, proposals, and pursuits.
  • Ensure compliance with stormwater, flood control, water resources, and transportation drainage requirements.
  • Collaborate with roadway, structures, environmental, geotechnical, traffic, and construction teams.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, plans, and construction documents.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration in one Rocky Mountain State and ability to obtain other state registrations as needed.

Preferred qualifications

  • Project management experience with budgets, clients, design delivery, staffing, and schedules.
  • Business development and client relations experience.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or InRoads.
  • Experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or Storm and Sanitary.
  • Highway or roadway design experience in Colorado, Arizona, or Utah.
  • Experience leading drainage teams on large, complex transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of transportation drainage standards, stormwater, floodplain regulations, and permitting.

Workplace and onboarding

  • The role includes periodic travel to offices and project locations within the Rocky Mountain Region.
  • New employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
