Role Overview
As the Regional Fleet Training Lead, you will be responsible for developing and supporting heavy vehicle drivers through practical coaching, classroom training, ride-alongs, and compliance activities. You'll play a critical role in building driver capability, improving safety outcomes, and ensuring drivers meet company and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering driver inductions, training programs, and annual driver assessments
Conducting ride-alongs and one-on-one coaching sessions with drivers
Supporting onboarding and development of new drivers
Ensuring compliance with fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and mass management requirements
Working with transport leaders to identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities
Monitoring and reporting on fleet and driver performance indicators
Supporting audits, governance activities, and training records management
Promoting a strong safety culture across the region
Acting as a trusted advisor to drivers and operational leadership teams

About You
You are a confident communicator who can comfortably facilitate a training session one day and conduct a driver assessment or ride-along the next. You build trust easily, enjoy coaching others, and understand the realities of heavy vehicle operations.
We're interested in candidates with:
Essential
Experience within the heavy vehicle, transport, tanker, or logistics industry
Strong understanding of safe driving practices and heavy vehicle compliance requirements
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting drivers
Ability to conduct driver assessments and provide constructive feedback
Strong organisational and administration skills
Highly Regarded
MC Licence
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
Driver Assessor qualifications
Knowledge of NHVR regulations, NHVAS, Fatigue Management, and Chain of Responsibility
Experience within tanker operations such as dairy, fuel, chemical, or bulk liquids transport

- This role is based in Leongatha, Victoria, with regular travel to Maffra and surrounding operational locations. Candidates should be located within reasonable commuting distance of Leongatha.
