Job Summary

Work Location and Conditions
- The role combines office-based planning with on-site field work.
- Travel to project sites is required.
- Work may involve industrial environments, refrigerated spaces, and mechanical rooms.
- Occasional after-hours support may be required during startup or commissioning.
Project Execution and Field Engineering
- Review refrigeration designs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping schematics, specifications, and load calculations.
- Coordinate procurement, delivery, and staging of compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, controls, and related components.
- Direct on-site installation teams and escalate design conflicts or field constraints for resolution.
- Ensure execution complies with ASHRAE, IIAR, ASME, local codes, and applicable PSM/RMP requirements.
Project Management
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Manage multiple projects from mobilization through startup and commissioning.
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal fabrication, installation, and controls teams.
- Track costs, manage change orders, report status, and resolve delays or technical issues.
Technical Oversight
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess systems and installation progress.
- Review fabrication drawings, submittals, and vendor documentation.
- Oversee commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
- Provide technical support during and after project handover.
Safety and Documentation
- Ensure installations comply with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture on job sites.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and as-built drawings.
- Maintain installation, equipment, and commissioning records and communicate updates to clients and management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–7+ years of experience in industrial or commercial refrigeration project execution, installation, or field engineering.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration cycles, system components, and equipment operation.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, piping schematics, and equipment layouts.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
- Strong project management, budgeting, scheduling, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ammonia, CO2, or other industrial refrigerants.
- PE license or progress toward licensure.
- PMP certification or formal project management training.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, Danfoss, Emerson, or other controls systems.
- Background in food and beverage, cold storage, or industrial manufacturing.
