Position Summary

The City of Prescott Recreation Services Department is seeking a motivated, creative and community- focused Recreation Coordinator to plan, coordinate and oversee a variety of recreational programs, classes and/or events. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality camps, programs, classes and/or events that enhance the quality of life in the community by delivering inclusive recreational opportunities for youth, adults, seniors and families. The ideal candidate will be organized and passionate about public recreation and possess the ability to manage multiple programs, classes and/or events while engaging residents, staff and community partners to enhance the quality of life for everyone we serve.

Essential Duties:

Create, plan, or g ani z e, a n d lead cam p s, com m uni t y event s , prog ra ms and r ecr e ational classes for youth, adults, seniors and f ami l ies

Coordinate and over s ee e vent logisti c s including faci l ities, equipment, pe r mits, vendors and setup/ t eardow n

Provide on-site supervi s ion duri n g events t o ensu r e safe t y and hi g h-level e xecuti o n of event s

Recrui t and coordi n ate i n struct o rs, vol u nteers, ve n dors, and s t aff as nee d e d

Assist wit h pro g ram reg i s tration, attendan c e t r ac k i n g, an d basi c rep o rti n g

Assist in the pro m otion of progr a ms and events b y working with st a ff t o cr e ate flyers, social media p osts, news l e tter articles, and ot h er ou treach method s

Ensure prog r ams comply with departm e nt policie s , safet y stand a rds, a nd appli c abl e reg u lati o ns

Respond to participant inquiries and provide e x ce l l e nt cu s tomer s e rvi c e t o the c ommunity

Uses Parks a nd R e creation best practi c e s t andards to develop evaluati o n to o ls for progra m s an d events and use data to drive improv e ment or expansion of pr o gra m s and event s

Work closel y wit h the R e creation S u pervi s or t o d e vel o p schedules, tim e lin e s, and progra m logisti c s

Coordinate and m ana g e s ports programs which in c ludes scheduli n g and ov er seei n g field and facili t y all o cat i on fo r t e am , program and co mm unity use.

Assist in tracki n g pro g ram/event supply inventory and o rder supplies as n e ed e d to en s u r e progra m /event s u c ces s

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's d eg re e i n Pa r ks & Recreation M anag e ment, Recr e ati o n Ad m inistration, Event Management, or a r elate d field preferred; p rior experi e n ce co o rdi n ating programs, camps, c lasses, or events f o r you t h, teens, adults and seni o rs. Three (3) years of ex p eri e n ce w orki n g in a r ecr e ati o n, lei s ure se r vice or closely related field ove r seeing, program m ing or coordinating r e creational ac t ivities, special event s , sports or any equivalent combinat i on of educati o n, ex p e rie n ce, and training which provi d es t h e knowledge and abilit i es neces s ary to p e rform t he essent i al functi o ns of this posit i on. Passion for co m munity program m ing, recr e ati o n servi c es, and public engagement.

Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:

CP R , First Aid and AED certi f ied (or abilit y to obtain within 90 days of hire). Must possess a v alid drive r 's license an d abilit y to pass a background check and drug s c re e n.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a s tandard Ci t y off i ce envi r onment and in the community/ field.

Safely ope r ates a C i ty v e hicle and var i ety of stan d ard o ffi c e equipment inc l uding a computer t e rminal, telephone, 10-key calculator, copier, and fax m a chi n e r equiring continuous and repetiti v e ar m , hand, and eye m ov em e nt.
