The Operations Manager is expected to maintain a detailed understanding of upcoming project requirements and ensure the business is operationally prepared to meet both daily and longer-term concrete demand.
Lead the day-to-day execution of all concrete production and delivery activities supporting large infrastructure project and associated projects.
Ensure concrete orders are produced and delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and in accordance with customer requirements.
Maintain oversight of daily and upcoming pour schedules across all active contracts.
Coordinate plant production, dispatch, trucking, materials, quality control, maintenance, and labour requirements.
Establish clear operating plans for major pours and periods of high concrete demand.
Maintain operational oversight of all active concrete supply contracts associated with arge infrastructure project and related construction activities.
Understand the specific requirements of each contract, including concrete specifications, volumes, schedules, delivery requirements, testing requirements, and service expectations.
Maintain clear visibility of upcoming concrete demand across all contracts.
Participate in customer and contractor planning meetings as required. Ensure changes to pour schedules, volumes, specifications, or project requirements are communicated quickly to the appropriate operational teams.
Maintain accurate records of significant operational events, delays, disruptions, and customer issues.
Ensure all concrete supplied meets approved mix designs, customer specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards.
Work closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure production consistency and concrete performance.
Ensure plant operations follow established batching, production, testing, and quality procedures.
Maintain clear communication between Operations and Quality Control regarding upcoming pours and special mix requirements.
Ensure different contract specifications and mix requirements are clearly communicated and properly managed across operations.
Translate customer forecasts and project schedules into operational requirements for plants, trucks, operators, drivers, materials, maintenance, and quality personnel.
Coordinate labour schedules to support expected production requirements.
Ensure adequate availability of cementitious materials, aggregates, admixtures, fuel, and other critical production inputs.
Coordinate with suppliers to manage inventory requirements and potential supply-chain risks.
Ensure concrete plants and supporting equipment are operationally ready to meet scheduled production requirements.
Coordinate closely with maintenance personnel regarding equipment condition, preventative maintenance, repairs, and planned downtime.
Schedule maintenance activities to minimize impacts on customer commitments.
Monitor mixer truck availability and coordinate fleet requirements with dispatch and maintenance.
Lead regular operational planning meetings to ensure all departments understand upcoming requirements, responsibilities, constraints, and priorities.
Provide leadership to plant supervisors, batch plant operators, dispatch personnel, drivers, and other operational employees.
Establish clear expectations regarding safety, customer service, operational performance, quality, and accountability.
Ensure appropriate staffing is available to support scheduled operations.
Serve as the primary operational contact for significant concrete supply matters.
Maintain regular communication with client project teams, contractors, construction managers, and other customers.
Participate in project coordination and look-ahead meetings.
Provide clear information regarding concrete production capacity, delivery capabilities, operational constraints, and upcoming requirements.
Respond quickly to customer concerns and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented approach while protecting Terus' operational capabilities and contractual position.
Health, Safety & Environment
Accountable for leading indicator safety metrics and overall regional safety performance.
Implement the HSE Program, support the goals and objectives of the program, and ensure the HSE Program requirements are met in regions.
Provide guidance, direction, and management control for accomplishing HSE goals and objectives in the region.
Ensure a safe work environment by holding all project team members accountable to Terus-CWCI health, safety, and environment policies.
Consult with the General Manager, Regional Safety Supervisor (and OHS Coordinator where employed), and Terus HSE Manager to determine desired HSE outcomes and the means to attain these outcomes for regions.
Support and work with the Regional Safety Supervisor and/or OHS Coordinator in administering the HSE Program for the Area/Region and provide regular feedback for any required changes to these efforts.
Lead by example for a culture of change with the HSE Requirements set forth by Terus, including but not limited to Toolbox Talks, Corrective Actions, and implementing a best-in-class safety culture.

Lead and manage team of direct reports and provide them operational guidance.
Foster effective employee relations with the union (where exist). Ensure employees receive daily job lists and timely information about irregular work hours and schedule changes.

Provide constructive feedback, demonstrate desired skills, and uphold work ethics.
Manage workforce recruitment, training, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Participate in attracting and hiring new employees, and the development of current employees. Work closely with Regional Manager to resolve conflicts and find opportunities of synergy.
Promote a culture of collaboration within direct so that inter as well intra activity tasks are managed smoothly.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (other activities, HSE, finance, HR etc.) to ensure seamless executive of organizational goals.
The Ready Mix Operational Manager will be responsible in leading specific initiatives:
Short & Medium-term talent management: Identify needs and establish initiatives to engage, retain and attract high-performing employees.
Succession planning: Identify successors for key roles and create a defined pipeline to fill gaps based on organizational needs.
Communicate goals, objectives, and corrective actions.
Provide training and support to help team members grow.
Regularly assess and address skill gaps to enhance overall team capabilities.
Must have 5-10 years of industry experience in a supervisory position OR an equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience.
The Ready-Mix Operational Manager must have technical knowledge of concrete and equipment with the leadership skills to communicate with and motivate employees.
Strong computer skills including knowledge of dispatcher software, MS Office.
Experience of operating and maintaining Ready-Mix equipment.
Strong written and oral communication skills with prior supervisory experience.
Technical knowledge of concrete production and construction methods.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage responsibilities.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000- $165,000CAD plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
