Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Radiology Technologist in the Radiology Department.
Here, you will perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, utilize appropriate principles of radiation protection, exercise professional judgement in the performance of imaging procedures and be responsible for providing care of patients in your charge.
Eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus
Essential Job Functions
- Reviews physician's order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested.
- Selects appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age and technical equipment characteristics.
- Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.
- Performs a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality, assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination and evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation.
- Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies.

- Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation, and all other applicable federal, state, local and institutional regulations with regard to confidentiality.
- Interfaces with customers, patients and their family members, medical staff and visitors in a friendly, professional manner. Demonstrates consistent use of the AIDET principles and demonstrates flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible.
- Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies. Adheres to all infection control regulations. Recognizes report and document malfunctions of technical equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by the consistent and accurate input of data into the system. Follow established workflows for workgroup. Assist in training new technologists and students. Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Rotating on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
- Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire.
- Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
- Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Good decision-making and judgment skills
- Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
- CPR certification
