Role Overview
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging examinations safely and accurately for interpretation by radiologists and physicians.
The role maintains patient safety, comfort, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Diagnostic Imaging Duties
- Perform physician-requested radiographic examinations and verify patient identity, examination details, clinical information, and relevant history.
- Explain procedures, position patients safely and comfortably, operate imaging equipment, and select appropriate technical parameters.
- Review images for diagnostic quality and repeat examinations only when clinically or technically necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper labeling, storage, transmission, and documentation of diagnostic images.
Patient Safety and Care
- Apply radiation protection principles and maintain exposure As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
- Use protective equipment and devices, assess pregnancy status where applicable, and follow facility safety protocols.
- Assist with authorized contrast examinations, report adverse reactions or emergencies, and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
- Ensure safe transfer and positioning of elderly, pediatric, disabled, or critically ill patients.
