- Execute and assure compliance with quality procedures, practices and inspection processes
- Interact with manufacturing team members to determine root cause of quality issues and ensure corrective and preventive action
- Collect Non Conformance (NC) data and maintain quality system documents, indexes and databases
- Prepare, update and distribute specific quality metrics as required
- Write and maintain quality procedures and practices
- Evaluate hardware, perform laboratory procedures, inspect products, measure process performance, record data, and prepare formal reports
- Prepare and read inspection control plans, interpreting specifications, drawings, BOM, standards and tolerances in a GD&T environment
- Support and conduct measurement systems analysis with gage R&R studies
- Support process capability analysis, short run SPC and process monitoring for continual improvement
- Train manufacturing team members in quality requirements, inspection and test practices
- Train other quality technicians or students as required
Requirements
- High school or post secondary education in mechanics, hydraulics, or electrical studies
- 3 5 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of inspection with GD&T (ASME Y14.5M 1994)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Working knowledge of gauges and calibration procedures
- Knowledge of incoming, in process, final, first article inspection, auditing and sampling plans
- Skills in basic math, basic statistics, variation and control charts
- Basic problem solving skills
- Certification as a Quality Technician (CQT) or Mechanical Inspector (CMI) or agreed development plan
- Available to work a variety of shifts
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct Measurement Systems Analysis (Gauge R&R)

Job Description
- The Quality Technician performs basic quality techniques (inspection and audits) to track, analyze and report on materials, processes and products to ensure they conform to the company's quality standards, and are involved in the calibration of tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Executes and assures compliance with quality procedures, practices and inspection processes
- Interacts with manufacturing team members to determine root cause of quality issues and ensures that corrective and preventive action is implemented
- Collects Non Conformance (NC) data and maintains and updates quality system documents, indexes and databases
- Prepares, updates and distributes specific quality metrics as required
- Writes and maintains quality procedures and practices and has a working knowledge of statistical problem solving tools
- Evaluates hardware, performs laboratory procedures, inspects products, measures process performance, records data, and prepares formal reports
- Prepares and reads inspection control plans, interpreting specifications, drawings, BOM, standards and tolerances in a GD&T environment
- Supports and conducts measurement systems analysis with the use of gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies
- Supports process capability analysis, short run Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process monitoring for continual improvement
- Trains manufacturing team members in quality requirements, inspection and test practices
- Trains other quality technicians or students as required
Qualifications
- High school and/or post secondary education in mechanics, hydraulics and/or electrical studies.
- 3 5 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
- CMM programming ability an asset
- Understanding of inspection with GD&T (ASME Y14.5M 1994)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Working knowledge of gauges (mechanical, electrical, etc.) used in the quality process and calibration procedures
- Knowledge of incoming, in process, final, first article inspection, auditing and sampling plans
- Skills in basic math, basic statistics, variation and control charts
- Basic problem solving skills
- Certification as a Quality Technician (CQT) or Mechanical Inspector (CMI), or agreed on Professional Development Plan to achieve certification (ASQ preferred but other comparable regional certifications accepted)
- Available to work a variety of shifts
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Able to express ideas in individual and group settings and work collaboratively in a team
