Role Description

Responsibilities

  • Review welding procedures and specifications to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and standards.
  • Evaluate weld quality through inspection and testing, including visual, NDT, and destructive methods.
  • Document findings in detailed reports and maintain quality records.
  • Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to address nonconformities.
  • Recommend corrective actions and support continuous improvement in welding processes.
  • Interpret technical drawings and codes to ensure alignment between design intent and fabrication practices.
  • Provide guidance to welding personnel on quality and compliance matters.
  • Participate in virtual meetings with internal and external stakeholders to align on project requirements and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) and experience with weld inspection and testing methods (visual, NDT, destructive testing).
  • Experience in quality control and assurance, including developing inspection plans, managing nonconformance reports, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications, ensuring alignment between design intent and fabrication practices.
  • Proficiency with documentation and reporting tools, including digital quality management systems, data entry, and preparation of clear, organized inspection reports.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng), or equivalent credentials are highly beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to welding and fabrication, and a demonstrated commitment to safe work methods.
