Role Description

Quality Management

• Oversee and maintain the laboratory quality management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and other relevant standards.
• Conduct internal audits, manage external assessments, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Develop and monitor quality performance indicators and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure accurate documentation, calibration, and verification of laboratory equipment and processes.

Health and Safety

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure safe laboratory practices, including chemical handling, waste management, and PPE use.
• Deliver training on laboratory safety, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Environment and Compliance

• Oversee proper disposal and management of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory waste.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
• Promote resource efficiency in energy, water, and chemical use within the laboratory.
• Lead QHSE awareness initiatives and guide laboratory staff.

Stakeholder Reporting

• Liaise with regulatory authorities, accreditation bodies, and clients on QHSE matters.
• Prepare and present QHSE performance reports to management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of QHSE experience, including at least 3 years in a lead role in a construction material testing laboratory.
• In-depth knowledge of and certification related to ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Certified Lead Auditor in one or more management systems is preferred.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety, chemical handling, and risk management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to train, mentor, and influence staff at all levels.
• Immediate joiners are preferred.
