Responsibilities
- Conduct daily welding inspections at fabrication yard and/or construction site
- Inspect fit up, joint preparation, welding parameters, consumables, preheating, inter pass temperature, and final weld appearance
- Verify welding activities according to approved WPS, PQR, ITP, method statements, drawings, and project specifications
- Check welder qualification records and ensure only approved welders are assigned
- Coordinate and witness NDT activities, including VT, MT, PT, UT, and RT when required
- Review NDT reports and follow up on welding repairs, re inspection, and closure of NCRs
- Inspect steel structure materials, welding consumables, bolts, plates, beams, and related components
- Prepare and maintain quality records, inspection reports, welding reports, RFI, NCR, MIR, and other QA/QC documentation
- Monitor compliance with applicable standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME, ISO, ASTM, AISC, or project specific standards
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, client, consultant, and third party inspection teams
- Identify quality issues at site and propose corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure all welding and steel structure activities comply with project quality requirements and safety procedures
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in QA/QC welding inspection, preferably in steel structure projects
- Experience in steel structure fabrication, erection, welding inspection, and site quality control
- Familiar with international welding and steel structure standards, especially AWS D1.1
- Valid welding inspection certification is highly preferred
