Role overview

The Site Engineer is responsible for day-to-day execution, supervision, coordination, and technical control of interior fit-out works on site.

The role ensures work meets approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, project schedules, and safety requirements.

The position coordinates manpower, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other trades.

Site execution and coordination

  • Manage daily fit-out activities and supervise gypsum ceilings and partitions, flooring and tiling, painting, joinery, glass works, MEP coordination, and other finishes.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities, allocate manpower, monitor productivity, and verify completed quantities.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades.
  • Identify site constraints, missing information, drawing discrepancies, and access or clearance issues.
  • Raise technical queries and coordinate required inspections.

Planning and progress

  • Monitor actual site progress against the approved programme and prepare daily and weekly progress updates.
  • Maintain records of manpower, completed quantities, delays, and site activities.
  • Identify potential delays and propose corrective actions.
  • Follow up material approvals, procurement, deliveries, work fronts, and approved acceleration activities.

Quality and commercial control

  • Inspect works before consultant or client inspections and ensure installation complies with approved materials, drawings, and specifications.
  • Follow up consultant comments, snagging items, NCRs, and observations until closure.
  • Protect completed works and minimize rework, material wastage, and unnecessary labour costs.
  • Identify out-of-scope works and obtain authorization before proceeding with additional or variation works.
  • Maintain records, measurements, photographs, and supporting documents for variations, delays, and progress claims.

Health and safety

  • Ensure site activities comply with company HSE procedures and project safety requirements.
  • Ensure workers use required PPE and follow approved safe working procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Officer, report unsafe conditions, stop activities presenting immediate safety risks, and maintain good housekeeping.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
  • The supplied description ends during the qualifications and experience section, so additional requirements cannot be reliably extracted.

Required documentation

Maintain daily site reports, manpower records, progress photographs, material requirements, inspection requests, site instructions, drawing revisions, variation records, measurement sheets, delay records, snagging status, subcontractor progress, and completed work quantities.

Document and report all significant verbal instructions received on site to the Project Manager.
