Job Purpose
The Project and Estimation Engineer handles client engagement, BOQ estimation, technical proposal design, supplier negotiation, and site execution for ELV and electromechanical construction projects.
The role combines office-based technical estimation with site coordination and consultant compliance management.
Location and Work Setting
- The role is on-site and office-based, with field travel required.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Visit construction sites and client offices, conduct site surveys, and gather technical requirements.
- Prepare material and labor quantities, BOQs, and cost estimates from drawings and consultant specifications.
- Source and negotiate supplier, manufacturer, and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare technical proposals, commercial quotations, and bid packages.
- Follow up with clients, clarify technical queries, and support deal closure.
- Coordinate site technicians, assign work packages, verify tools and equipment, and address field technical challenges.
- Prepare work schedules and action plans to maintain project timelines.
- Read and modify AutoCAD shop drawings and Single Line Diagrams and ensure compliance with consultant and authority requirements.
- Monitor milestones for invoicing and report project pipeline, progress, and risks to senior management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical, electronics, or mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in ELV systems and electromechanical works within construction.
- Strong knowledge of local construction processes, consultant approvals, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in drawing interpretation, AutoCAD, and MS Excel for estimation.
- Valid local driving license and ability to visit sites independently.
- Fluent written and verbal English is mandatory.
- Arabic or Malayalam proficiency is advantageous.
Performance Indicators
Accuracy and timeliness of BOQ and commercial quotation submissions.
Conversion of submitted quotations into awarded projects.
Adherence to project timelines and successful field technician coordination.
Client and consultant satisfaction with project standards and response times.
