Project Engineer II

• Own the creation, issuance, and tracking of all purchase orders.
• Manage subcontractor onboarding, contract execution, and compliance (COIs, documentation).
• Ensure all commitments align with project budgets and scope.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate as needed.

Success looks like:

• All POs and subcontracts are created, issued, and tracked accurately and on time.
• Subcontractors are fully onboarded and compliant before starting work.
• Commitments are aligned with approved scope and project budget.

• The PM has clear visibility into project commitments and outstanding procurement.

• Manage the full lifecycle of change orders from initiation through approval. - Coordinate scope definition, pricing inputs, and supporting documentation with trades and PM. - Track CO status and ensure timely execution to avoid project delays.

• Change orders are documented, priced, routed, and approved promptly.
• Scope and pricing are clearly defined before work proceeds.
• CO status is always current and visible to the project team.
• No change order sits unresolved long enough to impact schedule, cost, or client expectations.
• The project record accurately reflects all approved changes.

• Maintain and audit all project documentation for accuracy and completeness. - Ensure BuilderTrend reflects current project status at all times. - Establish consistency in file structure, naming, and record keeping.

Success looks like:

• Project files and BuilderTrend are accurate, complete, and current.
• Documentation is consistently organized and easy for anyone on the team to find.
• Records accurately reflect project decisions, commitments, and status.
• Documentation gaps are identified and corrected proactively.
• The project is always "audit ready."

• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, and drawing updates across all stakeholders. - Drive timely responses and follow-ups to prevent schedule impacts. - Communicate critical updates to field and project teams.

Success looks like:

• RFIs and submittals are tracked from initiation through resolution.
• Responses are actively followed up on before they become schedule constraints.
• Current drawings and information are clearly identified and communicated to the field.
• Critical information reaches the right people quickly.
• No critical decision or unanswered question falls through the cracks.

• Coordinate key milestones, inspections, and project events. - Support schedule adherence by identifying risks and communicating constraints early. - Interface with internal teams (design, marketing, leadership) as needed.

• Act as day-to-day coordination lead supporting the PM. - Assist in resolving field issues through communication and documentation. - Reduce PM administrative burden by owning core workflows.

• The PE II serves as a reliable day-to-day coordination resource for the PM.
• Field issues are documented, communicated, and followed through to resolution.
• Core administrative workflows are owned without requiring constant PM direction.
• The PM spends less time chasing information, documents, and status updates.
• The PE II operates independently, anticipates needs, and knows when to escalate.

• Education: Degree in Engineering preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction.
• Skills:
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Has shown the ability to be forward looking and a strong problem solver.
• Proficiency in construction management platforms such as BuilderTrend is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Familiarity with PlanGrid and Bluebeam a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Able to work on-site under various conditions, including exposure to weather, deconstruction, excavation, and structural phases.
• Ability to safely navigate construction sites, including ascending/descending stairs and ladders.
• Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. safely.
