Position Overview
Manage and supervise the planning, execution, testing, commissioning, and completion of fire protection and life safety projects.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and in compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety requirements and authority standards.
Project and Site Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise fire protection and fire and life safety systems at project sites.
- Coordinate with contractors, MEP consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Attend site meetings and resolve technical issues and site coordination requirements.
- Supervise installation activities for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Monitor project progress, manpower, materials, risks, technical issues, and potential delays.
- Coordinate material procurement and ensure materials are available for project requirements.
Systems and Commissioning
- Design, review, install, test, and commission firefighting, fire pump, sprinkler, hose reel, fire hydrant, fire alarm, emergency lighting, and special fire protection systems.
- Plan and coordinate testing and commissioning of fire protection and fire alarm systems.
- Support preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for fire protection and fire alarm systems when required.
Approvals and Documentation
- Coordinate with Dubai Civil Defense on drawing approvals, inspections, comments, and completion certificates.
- Review shop drawings, single-line diagrams, hydraulic calculations, and technical drawings.
- Prepare and review technical submittals, material approvals, method statements, inspection requests, and shop drawings.
- Prepare progress reports, inspection reports, testing and commissioning records, and project documentation.
- Coordinate final inspections, authority approvals, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Ensure as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing certificates, and handover documents are properly prepared and submitted.
Compliance and Quality
- Respond to RFIs and technical queries with appropriate engineering solutions.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice, DCD requirements, project specifications, and applicable standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in fire protection, firefighting, fire alarm, or MEP projects.
- Strong knowledge of fire protection system design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience working on UAE projects and familiarity with DCD requirements and approval procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering or project management software.
- Strong project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple project activities simultaneously.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with high-rise residential, commercial, hotel, industrial, or mixed-use projects.
- Previous experience coordinating with DCD and MEP consultants.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards and other applicable fire protection standards.
- Experience in project planning, progress monitoring, and site supervision.
- Strong knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures.
