Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: Arizona (Phoenix Metro preferred) Industry: Commercial & Industrial Painting Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Project Engineer to join our dynamic team.

This role is pivotal in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and industrial painting projects across Arizona.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of engineering knowledge, field experience, and project management skills to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Project Planning & Execution

Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.

Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.

Assist in the preparation of work packages, submittals, and procurement schedules.

Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure timely mobilization and execution of work.

Technical Oversight

Provide technical support on surface preparation, coating systems, and application methods.

Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE) and client specifications.

Conduct site inspections to verify quality control, safety compliance, and progress tracking.

Troubleshoot field issues and recommend corrective actions in collaboration with the operations team.

Project Controls & Documentation

Track project budgets, labor hours, material usage, and equipment deployment.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, daily reports, and punch lists.

Support the preparation of progress billings and closeout documentation.

Assist in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

Serve as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.

Participate in project meetings and provide updates on schedule, cost, and performance metrics.

Support estimating and preconstruction efforts by performing quantity takeoffs and scope reviews.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

2–5 years of experience in a construction or industrial painting environment.

Familiarity with coatings, corrosion protection, and surface prep techniques.

Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Quickbid, Microsoft 365/CoPilot, Bluebeam) and OST.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

OSHA 30 certification preferred; knowledge of safety protocols and hazard mitigation essential.

Ability to work in both office and field environments, including active construction sites.
