Project Controls Manager - Defence

We are looking for a talented Project Controls Manager to join our Defence team in Preston , supporting the delivery of a high‑profile and highly regulated Defence programme that is critical to national security.

Due to commence in l ate autumn to early winter , the role sits within an integrated client team and will focus on providing robust project controls, clear visibility of performance and effective decision‑making support across the programme.

Note: Due to the security requirements of the role, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Delivering end to end project controls management from design through to commissioning.
• Ensure clear visibility, accuracy and transparency of the project schedule, with specific responsibility for the critical path.
• Act as the focal point for schedule control and progress measurement within the assigned scope, supporting decisions related to resource allocation and activity sequencing.
• Support the Project Controls Lead and Project Managers in the development, implementation and ongoing use of project controls processes, procedures and systems.
• Provide coordination, direction and oversight across assigned areas or scopes of work, working closely with engineering, project management, procurement and commercial teams.
• Support project schedule management and reporting, including cost and earned value reporting, and coordination of schedules across delivery partners.
• Assist in leading, coaching and supporting members of the Project Controls team.

You’ll need to have:

• An HND or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction, quantity surveying or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a project controls or project management role within a consultancy or construction environment.
• A strong understanding of project controls methodologies and techniques.
• Experience using appropriate project controls systems and software.
• Good working knowledge of earned value analysis.
