Your Opportunity We are seeking to hire full-time personnel for the role: Project Archaeologist, Field Lead, to join our Archaeology team in Ontario. An individual in this role will be highly organized and self-motivated. Your expertise will be utilized in all parts of Ontario, from urban core brownfields to fly-in only wilderness, for a wide array of private and public sector clients. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while taking on increasing responsibility across a diverse range of sectors and projects. The successful candidate will be encouraged to broaden their technical expertise, develop strong project leadership capabilities, and gain exposure to the many inter-related facets of archaeological consulting. We are looking for individuals who are interested not only in delivering high-quality archaeological work today, but also in continuing to expand their capabilities and contribution to the Stantec archaeology team. Your Key Responsibilities - To provide both Field Supervisor oversight and act as a Project Field Lead - Lead Stage 1 through 4 Archaeological Assessments in the field - Work closely with Project Managers and Team Leads to organize resourcing and logistics - Closely monitor project field progress - Mentor Field Technicians, support training requirements, and oversee probationary evaluations of new hires - Provide input with proposal preparation as related to field operations - Liaise with Indigenous communities, clients, and landowners when in the field - Work closely with Project Managers and Field Supervisors to deliver technically sound recommendations for cultural resource management - Manage direct reports (Field Technicians) up to 10+ individuals. Provide coaching and on-the-job guidance. - Actively participate in and promote Stantec’s health and safety program Your Capabilities and Credentials - Highly organized and willing to work in a fast-paced environment - Able to mentor junior field staff - Desire to work closely with other environmental professionals, regulatory staff, and Indigenous community members - Previous experience as an Ontario Field Supervisor is required - A valid Ontario driver’s license is required Education and Experience Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, or equivalent, is required Professional or Research Archaeology License issued by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, in good standing, is required Minimum of five (5) years of cultural resource management experience required, with a minimum of two (2) years of archaeological Field Supervision experience This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
