Project & Application Engineer

About This Role

Primary Responsibilities

• Respond to customer calls, troubleshoot complex issues, provide customer training, and perform complex data analysis.
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of current and legacy rental systems products.
• Collaborate with sales and customers to support rental applications.
• Analyze engineering specifications to ensure planned equipment usage meets cooling, heating, and electrical needs.
• Develop project proposals and provide application design assistance.
• Create, release, and maintain engineering specification sheets and technical documentation.
• Prepare standardized installation layouts for the sales team.
• Generate RFQ documents and secure bid proposals for new equipment and rental packaging.
• Maintain purchasing files and specification sheets for equipment traceability.
• Travel to project and vendor sites when required as Carrier Rental Systems' technical expert.
• Perform load calculations to help sales specify equipment accurately.
• Define equipment nomenclature and maintain documents for rental equipment.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with an HVAC focus.
• At least 3 years of engineering experience; rentals applications experience is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or similar engineering software.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Detailed understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills are preferred.
• Advanced ability to adapt and react in a very fast-paced work environment is preferred.

Travel

• Travel is required to project and vendor sites when needed, up to 15%.

Compensation

• Annual salary range is $79,000 to $158,000.
• Short-term cash incentives may be available subject to plan requirements.
