Job Summary

The Office of the Chief Information Officer is seeking a Programmer Analyst I for the Automation Solution Delivery team.

The role designs, develops, tests, implements, documents, maintains and supports applications for complex or campus-wide systems.

This is a hands-on delivery role within a multidisciplinary technical and business team.

Work Performed

  • Create software applications and participate in development from conception to deployment.
  • Analyze, write, build and deploy software and participate in automated testing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues in code, configuration and integrations.
  • Develop front-end code, platform configurations, databases, services and integrations under guidance.
  • Assist with RESTful services and APIs and stay current with application technologies.
  • Write technical documentation and consider security, performance, scalability, usability and reliability.

Core Duties

  • Design, develop, configure and program custom software and application modules.
  • Support systems design, vendor application evaluation and implementation activities.
  • Review system features and integration, security, scalability and performance requirements.
  • Conduct testing, document changes and provide ongoing application maintenance and operational support.
  • Provide technical support and consultation and document business processes as needed.
  • Apply software development lifecycle methodologies and established development practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • At least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion awareness.

Technical Qualifications

  • Ability to learn enterprise application development tools, business process engines and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise application delivery, integration patterns, data modelling and data integration concepts.
  • Working knowledge of programming, scripting or markup languages is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of APIs, SOAP/REST concepts, software design, testing, version control and CI/CD is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good oral and technical written communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Computer Science degree is preferred.
  • Enterprise application development, implementation, integration or support experience is an asset.
  • Appian, RPA, ETL, ESB, API, SQL, UML, ORM and Agile or SDLC experience may support the role.

Term and Reporting

  • This is a one-year term position ending September 13, 2027.
  • The position reports to the Senior Manager and has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation

  • The compensation range is $7,158.42 to $10,292.25 CAD monthly.
