Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities to meet customer orders, inventory targets, and delivery deadlines
- Monitor production flow and adjust staffing, equipment usage, or processes as needed
- Provide supervisor/support staff with strong leadership and career development
- Ensure all products meet company standards for quality, consistency, and presentation
- Oversee all plant personnel including bakers, operators, and packaging personnel
- Create staffing schedules and manage labour to align with production needs and budget
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures (HACCP, GMP, OSHA)
- Conduct regular product, equipment, and facility inspections
- Partner with Quality Assurance teams to address defects and implement corrective actions
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows
- Implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
- Lead root cause analysis for production issues and drive process enhancements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in food production; commercial bakery experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising hourly teams
- ERP/MRP System required
- Solid understanding of bakery processes (mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, packaging)
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to multitask and problem solve in a high volume environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Bachelor's Degree (required)
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles (preferred)
- Experience managing semi automated bakery machinery or industrial production lines (preferred)
- Experience running a 24 hour shift (preferred)
