Primary Responsibilities
- The Product Manager III serves as an emerging individual contributor within a team, continuing to develop leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will help ensure the team meets scope, schedule, and delivery requirements. You will work with internal and external stakeholders, build strong relationships, and contribute to improvements in product management processes.
Primary expectations of a Product Manager III include
Applies agile methods to support cross-functional workflows and the iterative delivery of products and features
Works with product leadership and client/product owners to help shape the vision and strategy for a product or program and support the adoption of iterative, outcome-driven processes
Applies a consultative product management approach when working with clients and internal teams
Partners with clients to shape the vision and strategy for products, processes, and programs
Supports both tactical program assignments and strategic initiatives to meet delivery requirements
Decomposes complex problems, builds consensus, and helps establish direction for product development and deployment
Facilitates agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and team retrospectives, to support the iterative design and delivery of products
Effectively communicates complex technical and business issues to a wide range of audiences
Develops and maintains documentation that supports the delivery and evolution of products and deliverables, including product briefs, product outlines, release plans, and presentations
Coaches and mentors junior-level team members, providing actionable feedback that supports growth within the product discipline
Proactively identifies risks, communicates them to leadership, and provides recommendations to mitigate identified risks
Develops and maintains product roadmaps and associated artifacts
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education
3+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or a related product delivery role
Experience working within Agile product development environments and supporting iterative product delivery
Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps, backlogs, product requirements, and other product documentation
Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, research, and other product stakeholders
Experience gathering and translating business, user, and stakeholder needs into actionable product requirements and priorities
Experience working directly with clients, customers, or stakeholders to support product vision, strategy, and delivery
Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate product or delivery risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical and business concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Prior experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior-level team members
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting digital products or services within federal government or public-sector environments
Experience working with multidisciplinary digital services teams
Ability to obtain and maintain one or more of the following certifications:
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Certified Product Manager (CPM)
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Other related product or Agile certification

- In support of various state and city equal pay transparency laws, Ad Hoc job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
