Role Overview
The Product Development Engineer drives end-to-end hardware design and development of electronic controllers, VFDs, and power-drive systems for next-generation product platforms.
The role is part of the PD WU Controls team and focuses on safety-critical electronics for sustainable water systems.
What You Will Be Doing
- Select and architect microcontroller platforms and electronics for controllers, VFDs, soft-starters, and power-drive systems.
- Develop schematics and PCB layouts using PADS or Altium and perform circuit simulations using PSPICE, LT-SPICE, or MATLAB Simulink.
- Lead system-level design, including magnetics, thermal calculations, switching and conduction losses, and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Execute Design FMEA and MTBF analysis and ensure safety-standard compliance for safety-critical products.
- Perform board-level testing, system integration, fault finding, and coordination with firmware teams during development and validation.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and third-party test laboratory teams on product requirements and certifications.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
- At least 7 years of hardware design experience in power electronics, including power supply and inverter designs.
