Role overview

David Harber is seeking a Procurement & Operations Manager to coordinate procurement, suppliers, materials, stock and operations for bespoke sculptures, sundials and water features.

The role connects Design, Production, Sales, Finance, suppliers and the workshop from design through procurement, production and delivery.

The position offers scope to improve processes, cost control, operational visibility and broader operational leadership.

Role at a glance

  • The role is fully site-based during probation, with potential for one day working from home thereafter.
  • The position is based in Oxfordshire.
  • The role is full-time and permanent.

Procurement and supply chain

  • Lead day-to-day procurement and purchasing across materials and subcontracted services.
  • Build supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, terms and lead times.
  • Monitor supplier performance, expenditure and supply-chain risk.
  • Ensure materials arrive at the required quality, cost and point in the production process.

Operations, stock and delivery

  • Coordinate priorities from design through production, finishing and delivery.
  • Own stock accuracy, inventory management and materials planning.
  • Coordinate logistics, deliveries and fleet requirements.
  • Support Health & Safety standards, records and processes across the site.

Process improvement and leadership

  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and unnecessary costs and establish stronger processes and accountability.
  • Support implementation and adoption of Sage 200 ERP to improve stock and inventory visibility.
  • Lead two direct reports and help develop the wider operational function.

Required experience

  • Strong procurement, buying and supplier-management experience is required.
  • Proven commercial negotiation and cost-control skills are required.
  • Experience managing materials, stock and inventory is required.
  • Strong operational planning, organisational capability and process-improvement experience are required.
  • The role requires confidence across multiple departments and priorities, plus a practical and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills are required.

Desirable experience

  • Hands-on manufacturing, engineering or bespoke production experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience with bespoke or high-value manufacturing, metals or specialist raw materials would be advantageous.
  • ERP implementation experience, particularly Sage 200, would be advantageous.
  • Production planning, logistics or fleet exposure, Health & Safety knowledge, and Lean or Six Sigma experience would be advantageous.
