Job Description

Parsons is seeking a Principal Wet Utilities Engineer for complex water and wastewater engineering projects in Abu Dhabi.

The role involves overseeing projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting sustainable water resource management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and implementation of water supply, treatment, and distribution infrastructure projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, deliverables, feasibility studies, technical assessments, and design optimization.
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrological modeling, water demand calculations, supply strategy development, and reservoir planning.
  • Support transmission, distribution, storage, transient analysis, valve arrangements, hydraulic chambers, looping, and pump station design.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Review and approve technical reports, designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with water quality, safety, environmental, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare reports, permits, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Resolve issues during design, construction supervision, and post-contract phases.
  • Conduct site inspections of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Promote water recycling, conservation, sustainable management, and renewable energy integration.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of water engineering experience focused on infrastructure design and resource management.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological modeling software such as InfoWorks WS, Bentley software, Autodesk Civil 3D, or Esri GIS.
  • Expertise in BIM for infrastructure, network clash detection, and resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, distribution systems, and environmental regulations.

Desired Skills

  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Background in value engineering and project value improvement is desirable.
  • Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are desired.
  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi ADQCC standards and authority approval procedures is desired.
  • Knowledge of best practices for system reliability, safety, and sustainability is desired.
