Role overview

Parsons is seeking a Principal Wet Utilities Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team.

The role covers complex engineering tasks for water and wastewater projects, project oversight, regulatory compliance, and sustainable water resource management.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and implementation of water supply, treatment, and distribution infrastructure projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, deliverables, feasibility studies, technical assessments, and design optimization.
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrological modeling, water demand calculations, supply strategy development, and reservoir planning.
  • Provide expertise in transmission, distribution, storage, transient analysis, valve arrangements, hydraulic chambers, looping, and pump stations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Review and approve technical reports, designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with water quality, safety, environmental, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports, permits, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Conduct site inspections, resolve design and construction issues, and promote water conservation and renewable-energy integration.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of water engineering experience focused on infrastructure design and resource management.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrological modeling software, including Infoworks WS, Bentley software, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Esri GIS.
  • Expertise in BIM for infrastructure, network clash detection, and resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, distribution systems, and environmental regulations.

Desired skills

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in value engineering and project value improvement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi ADQCC standards and authority approval procedures.
  • Best-practice knowledge for system reliability, safety, sustainability, and team utilization.
