Role Overview
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Tunnels Engineer for its Noida or Mumbai team.
The role provides high-quality tunnel engineering support to global infrastructure projects with efficient, standardised, and commercially aligned delivery.
Projects range from bespoke design commissions to major infrastructure projects in the UK and worldwide.
Job Location
- The stated job locations are Noida and Mumbai, India.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across TBM tunnels, including EPB and slurry methods.
- Provide technical leadership across drill and blast or SEM tunnels, shafts, caverns, and underground stations.
- Work on segmental and sprayed concrete tunnel linings.
- Review and approve design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Complete work to quality standards, agreed timescales, and budgeted hours.
- Ensure designs comply with international standards and best practice.
- Embed health, safety, wellbeing, and Safe by Design requirements in originated tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop client and regulator-compliant solutions.
- Prepare reports, specifications, Designer’s Risk Management documentation, and health and safety files.
- Lead tunnelling scopes across global transport, water, and energy projects.
- Lead, mentor, and line-manage tunnel engineers and designers.
- Support recruitment, succession planning, knowledge sharing, bids, proposals, estimates, design reviews, and client discussions.
Candidate Specification
- The company is seeking a flexible and motivated professional with a genuine passion for making a difference.
- A BEng, MEng, or MSc degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in tunnel and underground project design is required.
