Role overview

RBC's AI Group is seeking a Principal Technical Product Manager to own evaluation and governance capabilities for responsible enterprise AI deployment.

The role connects AI system quality and safety assessments with risk and compliance reporting for business leaders across the bank.

Product strategy and delivery

  • Own the end-to-end product strategy and multi-year roadmap for AI evaluations and governance.
  • Lead discovery, requirements definition, prioritization, sequencing, and build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions.
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, and project management teams on feasibility, delivery planning, funding, and trade-offs.
  • Represent the capability area to risk, audit, compliance, architecture, governance, vendor, and senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Define launch value messaging, target personas, success metrics, and business case inputs.
  • Build and lead a team of product managers and establish consistent discovery, prioritization, and delivery practices.

Required qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including several years in risk, compliance, safety, or governance-oriented technology products or services.
  • Experience delivering production enterprise AI/ML systems, including hands-on LLM API integration and ownership of testing, evaluation, or monitoring.
  • Experience in a regulated industry with direct exposure to audit and regulatory review processes.
  • Technical foundation in system design, API integration patterns, data pipelines, and vector database or RAG architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging senior executives and engineering teams.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience leading product managers or moving into people leadership from an individual contributor or lead product role.
  • Experience converting regulatory or audit requirements into automated processes or tooling.
  • Experience with shared interfaces, AI safety, model risk management, automated AI evaluation, observability, or monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with OSFI E-23, NIST AI RMF, SR 26-2, ISO/IEC 42001, or related AI risk frameworks.
  • Experience establishing a new function in a scaling organization.
